The Goa Transport Department has stepped in to support Ola electric scooter owners struggling with service and repair issues, assuring complete assistance in pursuing their grievances through the consumer court.
Director of Transport Polumatla P. Abhishek confirmed that the department has already prepared complaint templates for affected customers and will provide full backing to help them seek justice. “I have personally met around 16 customers and told them that the department will stand by them. We’ve also advised them to approach the consumer court, and we’ll support them in filing their complaints,” Abhishek said.

In a decisive move, the department has blocked the dealer on the Vahan registration portal and issued a show-cause notice asking why its trade certificate should not be suspended or cancelled.
Abhishek noted that this was not the first time the company faced such issues. “Last year, too, several Ola scooters were left unattended due to lack of spare parts, repairs, and maintenance. We had suspended their trade certificate then after a hearing, where they assured us it wouldn’t happen again. Unfortunately, the same problem has resurfaced,” he added.
He also revealed that Ola had recently applied to open a new showroom in Bicholim, but the application has been withheld due to ongoing concerns.
Taking serious note of the hardships faced by customers—many of whom have been left without technical or service support—the department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring that all automobile dealers adhere to the Motor Vehicles Act.
Recently, a group of Ola scooter owners submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging a halt to further sales of Ola electric scooters in the state until all defective vehicles are repaired. The Chief Minister assured that the issue would be reviewed and necessary action taken.
