Goldsmith Alleges Fake Cops From Andhra Tried Extorting Gold in Goa

Police officers claiming to be from Guntur Police Station in Andhra Pradesh allegedly approached a Mapusa-based goldsmith and accused him of buying stolen gold from a man currently in custody there — someone the goldsmith says he has never met.

According to him, the men pressured him to come to the Mapusa Police Station and allegedly demanded 150 grams of gold, threatening to take him to Andhra Pradesh if he didn’t comply. After the goldsmith consulted his lawyer, the group allegedly changed their narrative and reduced the demand to 100 grams.
