The international cruise tourism season opened on a high note as the Celebrity Millennium, the first international cruise ship of the season, docked at the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) with nearly 2,000 passengers on board.
MPA Traffic Manager Jerome Clement said the international cruise terminal is nearing completion and will significantly enhance Goa’s cruise tourism potential once operational. “The arrival of Celebrity Millennium signals a strong start, and with the new terminal coming up, cruise tourism will grow even further,” he noted.

Passengers were welcomed with traditional Goan hospitality, including a brass band performance, while officials from various tourism departments coordinated a grand reception. Tour operators offered a range of excursion packages showcasing Goa’s cultural and natural attractions.
Umesh Mandrekar of the Murgaoncha Raja Tourist Taxi Union said taxi operators recorded strong business with the arrival of the season’s first cruise vessel, adding that such visits greatly support the livelihoods of local drivers and operators.
With more cruise liners expected in the coming months, tourism stakeholders are optimistic about a robust season ahead.
