The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), with assistance from Pernem Police, arrested a Belarusian woman from a rented room in the Pernem area and seized 1.321 kg of DMT, estimated to be worth ₹1 crore.
The arrest was made following specific intelligence inputs indicating that a foreign national was involved in drug trafficking. Acting on the information, NCB officers conducted a search operation that led to the recovery of the contraband and the woman’s arrest.
The incident has renewed concerns over a spate of drug-related cases reported from Pethechawada over the past year. Previous investigations in the area had also uncovered drugs allegedly being supplied to students, triggering alarm among residents and prompting calls for stricter surveillance and enforcement.
Further investigation is underway to determine the source of the narcotics and identify possible links to a larger trafficking network.
