Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday acknowledged that the Infectious Diseases (ID) Hospital at Ponda is facing a shortage of doctors but said the state government has made repeated efforts to fill critical vacancies, including that of a neurosurgeon.
Speaking on the issue, Sawant informed that the government has issued advertisements four times for the post of a neurosurgeon. However, he said no candidate has come forward to join so far.

The Chief Minister remarked that the government is often questioned about the absence of a neurosurgeon at the facility, but stressed that recruitment depends on the availability and willingness of specialists to take up government postings.
He assured that the state will continue its efforts to attract qualified medical professionals and strengthen healthcare services across Goa.
