The ongoing pro test at Chimbel entered its 43rd day on Sunday, with agitators warning of a fresh phase of agita tion after alleging that the government has failed to formally communicate any decision on shifting the proposed projects from the area. Speaking to the media, Ajay Kholkar, a local resident and a prominent face of the protest, said that despite repeated as surances, protesters have not been informed through any official procedure that the projects are being relo cated. “It is the 43rd day of the protest and till today we have not been informed through any proper proce dure that the projects are being shifted,” Kholkar said. He pointed out that while government programmes such as ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ have been organised at various locations and several cabinet decisions publicly announced, no formal decision regarding the shifting of the Chimbel projects has been commu nicated. Kholkar said the agita tors were under the im pression that the cabinet would take a clear decision on the issue. “Since that has not happened, our ag itation will take a different form from tomorrow. The government will see a dif ferent face of our protest,” he said, adding that the protest strategy would be announced shortly. He further said that while the hunger strike would continue, it would be carried out in a differ ent format. The protesters, he said, are yet to receive the Detailed Project Report (DPR) related to the pro posed projects. “Though claims have been made that the pro jects will be shifted, the actual process of shifting has not even begun. There is no official correspond ence to that effect so far,” Kholkar alleged, adding that the government was misleading the public on the issue. The protesters reiter ated that their agitation would continue until the government provides a written assurance, official documentation, and clarity on the future of the pro posed projects.
