West Bengal Police and Noida Police have put out sharply differing accounts over an attempted arrest linked to the alleged circulation of forged private chats involving Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra.
West Bengal Police have alleged that their team was obstructed by Noida Police while trying to arrest the accused in Noida, resulting in the suspect’s escape. Noida Police, however, have rejected the allegation, maintaining that all actions were taken in accordance with established procedure.

According to a senior Noida Police source, a team from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar arrived in Noida on Monday morning to execute an arrest warrant issued by a court in Nadia district. The Bengal police team later claimed that after they traced and detained the accused, a group of around 10 to 15 Noida Police personnel reached the spot and prevented them from proceeding with the arrest.
West Bengal Police further alleged that their four-member team was taken to a local police station and kept there for nearly an hour and a half. During this period, the accused is said to have managed to flee and is now absconding.
The incident has triggered a war of words between the two police forces, even as the search for the accused continues and authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the failed arrest attempt.
