A horrific case of suspected domestic violence has emerged from Outer North Delhi, where a man allegedly slit the throats of his pregnant wife and three young daughters at their residence, police officials said on Wednesday.
The gruesome incident took place in the Prem Chand Park area under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Police.
Victims Found in Pool of Blood
According to police, first responders arriving at the house on Wednesday morning found a disturbing scene. Anita, 27, who was two months pregnant, was discovered lying in a pool of blood along with her three daughters, aged three, four and five years.
“All four victims had their throats slit with a sharp-edged weapon. The injuries were so severe that their windpipes were cut,” a senior police officer said, describing the crime as “extremely brutal.”
Husband Missing, Motive Under Investigation
Police suspect that the woman’s husband, identified as Munchun Kewat, may be behind the killings. He has been reported missing since the incident and is currently being traced.
Investigators are examining multiple angles, including the possibility of an extramarital affair. However, preliminary findings suggest that the crime may have been driven by the couple having three daughters and no son, raising suspicions of gender bias as a potential motive.
Probe Continues
A forensic team has examined the crime scene, and further investigation is underway. Police officials said efforts are on to locate the accused and ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the killings.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing grief and outrage over the brutal deaths of the young mother and her children.
