Art offers a means to express ideas, emotions and experiences that are often difficult to convey through words alone. Through forms such as painting and sculpture, artists communicate thoughts and feelings in powerful visual ways. Goa’s art scene nurtures a flourishing creative community that includes painters, sculptors, photographers, installation artists and independent curators. The annual State Art exhibition gives budding art students a platform to express their ideas. Kala Academy is organising the State Art Exhibition (Student Category) for the last 49 years. This year, a total of 238 works were received in three categories, painting and graphic print, applied art and graphic design and sculpture and a total of 90 works are selected for display in the exhibition. Kala Academy Goa recently declared the results of 50th State Art Exhibition (Student Category) in all three. Prize sponsored by Goa Hindu Association in memory of artist late Raoji V Gaunekar has been secured by Chetan Prabhakar Gaude whereas Late Hanumanth B Neugi Memorial prize awarded to Amisha Vijay Harmalkar. The exhibition of competitive nature was judged included Sagar Naik Mule, Sandesh Naik and Deepak Gaonkar judged this exhibition of competitive nature. The exhibition is currently on display till March 15 at the Art Gallery, Kala Academy, Panjim from 10 am to 7 pm.
