Residents of Davondem in Fatorda have come together to oppose a proposed mega housing project in their locality, alleging that the development could significantly impact the character of the area and the livelihoods of local residents.
According to the residents, the project proposes the construction of more than 250 flats within the ward. They claim that such a large-scale development would place pressure on local infrastructure and alter the existing social and economic fabric of the neighbourhood.

Locals have also expressed concern that the project could adversely affect traditional Goan occupations that are still practiced in the area. They pointed out that several families in Davondem are engaged in trades such as carpentry and the preparation of traditional Goan pork sausages, and fear that increased urbanisation could disrupt these long-standing livelihoods.
Residents said they intend to collectively raise their concerns with the relevant authorities and seek a review of the proposed project, urging that the interests of the local community be taken into consideration before any approvals are granted.
