Calangute Police have registered an FIR in connection with an alleged fraud amounting to ₹49.68 lakh at a medical store in Calangute.
According to the complaint, a woman working at Abania Drug Store allegedly replaced the shop’s official QR code scanner with a personal device, enabling her to divert customer payments directly into her own account. The fraudulent activity is reported to have taken place over an extended period, from February 2020 to October 2025.
Police said unsuspecting customers continued to make digital payments, unaware that the funds were being routed away from the store’s official account.
An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the full extent of the fraud and to recover the misappropriated amount. Authorities are also examining transaction records and digital payment trails as part of the probe.
Further action in the case is expected as the investigation progresses.
