A tragic case has come to light in Bicholim, where a father allegedly killed his son before dying by suicide, with investigators pointing to long-standing family tensions as the motive.
According to police, a note recovered from the house indicated that the father, identified as Sanjay, was deeply concerned about his son’s aggressive and unacceptable behaviour, fearing it could create serious problems for the family in the future, particularly affecting his daughter.

Officials said the relationship between the father and son had been strained for some time, with frequent conflicts reportedly arising over issues such as studies, discipline, and behaviour. The situation had escalated earlier when the son filed a complaint against his father at the Bicholim Police Station.
Based on forensic findings, investigators confirmed that the father allegedly strangled his son before consuming a toxic substance and ending his own life inside the house.
Bicholim Police Inspector Vijai Rane Sardesai stated that the sequence of events has been clearly established during the investigation. He added that the act appears to have been driven by the father’s growing anxiety over his son’s conduct and its potential consequences for the family.
Police have completed the preliminary investigation, and further legal formalities are underway.
