Fake ₹500 Notes Case in Porvorim: Accused in 4-Day Police Custody

An accused in a counterfeit currency case at Porvorim has been sent to four days of police custody after allegedly depositing fake ₹500 notes at an HDFC Bank branch. The incident came to light when bank officials identified suspicious currency deposited through a cash deposit machine and alerted the police. A case was subsequently registered, and investigations are now underway to trace the source of the fake notes. Police are also examining possible links to a broader network involved in circulating counterfeit currency. The probe is being led by PSI Sachin Shirodkar of Porvorim Police Station.
