Tourist Extortion Complaints: Mormugao DySP Warns Rent-A-Car Operators at Dabolim Airport Police Station

Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam held a meeting with rent-a-car operators at the Dabolim Airport Police Station, addressing growing complaints from tourists regarding alleged extortion practices.

During the meeting, Kadam stated that police have received multiple complaints from visitors who claimed they were overcharged or pressured by certain operators. Issuing a stern warning, he cautioned that strict action would be taken against those found indulging in such activities.

In response, rent-a-car operators said they have formed an association to better regulate the sector and address grievances. They also highlighted that “Form 5” has now been made mandatory to ensure customers are fully informed about terms and conditions before hiring vehicles.

Operators further emphasized that all customers are being advised against drinking and driving while in Goa, underlining the importance of safety and responsible tourism.

Police have urged both operators and tourists to follow proper procedures to ensure a fair and safe travel experience.
