HC turns down Muthalik’s plea

PANJIM: In a major setback to Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik, the High Court of Bombay at Goa turned down his plea challenging the Goa government’s order banning his entry in the State.

The single bench, which heard the petition for over four-and-half months, upheld the prosecution’s submission that his entry to Goa will disturb law and order.
Muthalik maintained that his visit was purely personal and that he did not intend to address any gathering. He had termed the ban as illegal and against his fundamental rights.
The prosecution contested that the personal visit was not above the law and order and sought dismissal of the petition.
The north and south district collectors had banned Muthalik’s entry for 60 days. The renewal of the order has not come yet.
