The Goa unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised the BJP-led state government over what it described as the failure to provide regular and affordable electricity supply to consumers despite adequate power availability.
Addressing the media, AAP Goa President Valmiki Naik alleged that residents across the state continue to face frequent and unplanned power disruptions, causing inconvenience to households and businesses.

Naik claimed that the Power Department recorded approximately 25,000 unplanned outages during the first three months of the year. According to him, this translates to an average of nearly 35 power interruptions per day, raising serious concerns about the reliability of the state’s electricity infrastructure.
The AAP leader also reiterated the party’s opposition to the implementation of smart electricity meters. He warned that if the government does not withdraw the smart meter system within the next 15 days, the party will launch a fresh agitation titled “Viz Andolan 2.0.”
According to Naik, the proposed protest movement aims to highlight consumer grievances related to electricity services and demand greater accountability from the government and the Power Department.
The BJP-led government has yet to respond to the latest allegations. Meanwhile, the issue of power supply reliability and the rollout of smart meters continues to remain a subject of debate between the ruling party and the opposition in Goa.
AAP has called on the government to address power supply concerns and engage with consumers regarding the implementation of the smart meter programme.
