Calangute Police arrested a 32-year-old man after TPU personnel reportedly found him recording videos and taking photographs of female tourists near Bandodkar Statue.

Calangute Police have arrested a 32-year-old tourist from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly recording videos and taking photographs of female tourists without their consent near the Bandodkar Statue in Calangute.

The accused, identified as Akash Saroj, was apprehended after personnel of the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) reportedly noticed his suspicious activities in the area. According to police, Saroj was allegedly found filming and clicking pictures of women tourists without their knowledge or permission.

Following the intervention of TPU personnel, the accused was detained and handed over to Calangute Police for further action.

Police subsequently seized his mobile phone as part of the investigation and initiated proceedings under preventive provisions of the law.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and privacy of tourists visiting Goa and warned that strict action will be taken against individuals engaging in inappropriate or unlawful behaviour.
