Police Probe Underway into Death of GMC Intern Doctor Gauri Narayan; Postmortem Examination in Progress

Goa Medical College (GMC) Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajesh T. Patil has said that police are investigating the death of 23-year-old intern doctor Gauri Narayan, whose body was found at Hawaii Beach on Wednesday night.

Addressing the media, Dr. Patil stated that the substance reportedly recovered from the scene forms part of the ongoing police investigation and that the postmortem examination is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death.

He clarified that anaesthetic drugs are not freely accessible within the hospital and are subject to strict control measures. According to Dr. Patil, the intern doctor would not have had access to such medications.

Dr. Patil further informed that Gauri had already completed her internship at Goa Medical College and was scheduled to leave the institution in two days.

The Medical Superintendent urged that the investigation be allowed to proceed and refrained from commenting on the circumstances surrounding the incident until official findings are available.

Police are continuing their inquiry, and further details are expected following the postmortem report and the completion of the investigation.
