Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be looking to make a bigger impact when India A take on Afghanistan A in their second match of the ongoing Tri-Nation A Series 2026.
The 15-year-old prodigy showed glimpses of his attacking ability in the opening match against Sri Lanka A, striking three boundaries before his promising innings came to an end. Attempting an aggressive shot, Sooryavanshi miscued the ball to a fielder at mid-off and was dismissed for 14 off just 12 deliveries.

Despite the youngster’s early departure, Tilak Varma-led India A went on to secure a thrilling eight-run victory over Sri Lanka A in a closely contested encounter at Dambulla.
After electing to bat first, India A suffered an early setback with both openers, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prabhsimran Singh, departing cheaply. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored the innings with a magnificent century, scoring 101 runs to guide India A to a competitive total of 277 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.
In reply, Sri Lanka A appeared to be cruising towards victory for much of the chase, with skipper Sahan Arachchige leading the way with a fighting 74. However, India A staged a remarkable comeback in the closing stages to snatch victory by eight runs.
The bowling attack was led by the spin trio of Ayush Badoni, Anukul Roy and Vipraj Nigam, who claimed two wickets each, while pacer Arshad Khan also chipped in with two crucial scalps.
With momentum on their side, India A will now aim to register another win against Afghanistan A, while all eyes will be on the talented Sooryavanshi as he seeks to convert his promising start into a memorable innings.
