A dog that accidentally fell into a well at Castelvaddo in Carona was safely rescued by personnel from the Mapusa Fire and Emergency Services on Thursday.
According to Fire Officer Prashant Shetgaonkar, the department received an emergency call reporting that a dog was trapped inside a well and required immediate assistance. A rescue team was promptly dispatched to the location.

“On reaching the spot, we found the dog sitting in a corner of the well and appearing exhausted. Using ropes, our team carefully lifted the animal to safety. As soon as it was brought out, the dog ran away,” Shetgaonkar said.
Local resident Richard, who first noticed the animal, said he spotted the dog trapped in the well and informed a neighbour, who then contacted the Fire and Emergency Services.
Another resident, Sonja, said she immediately alerted the authorities after learning about the incident.
“The Fire and Emergency Services team arrived within minutes and carried out the rescue efficiently. The operation was completed in about 15 minutes. The dog appeared tired while inside the well, but quickly ran away once it was rescued,” she said.
The swift response by the Fire and Emergency Services ensured the animal was rescued safely and without any injuries.
