PANJIM: In a first direct attack on Gandhi family, North Goa sitting MP Shripad Naik, seeking re-election to the Lok Sabha for the fourth time, stated that both Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi feel that the country is their private limited company.
Addressing the biggest gathering of about 5000 people, Shripad said “For the last 10 years Sonia and Rahul thought the country is their private limited company and there is no one to question them on the misdeeds. Of course, Manmohan Singh is their rubber stamp in form of managing director in the company.”
“Whatever profit was made by way of corruption and looting the people went straight into their treasury (Rahul’s and Sonia’s),” Shripad said.
The three-time MP further continued, “look what they have given us in the last 10 years – only corruption, scandals, inflation, unemployment,” he said.
Shripad also flayed UPA for compromising on the security of the nation.
“On one side Chinese soldiers enter in our territory in Arunachal while on the other Pakistan keeps beheading our soldiers on the border but the government only threatens to act tough. Our internal security is also at risk as naxalism has increased in many parts. What kind of government was the Congress running?” he asked.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza on Saturday lashed out at the Congress party saying the party has no guts to talk on any other issues and hence they stuck on just one issue of secularism.
“They say BJP is a communal party but I want to ask them how? We have six minority MLA’s in the party four independent minority MLA’s are supporting us. We don’t need to learn to how to safeguard the interests of the minorities,” he said asking “Who have made them the protectors of minorities?
D’Souza also sought to draw comparision between the administration of erstwhile Congress government and the present BJP government in Goa saying “we have fulfilled 80 percent of our promises in the manifesto whereas the Congress has always disappointed people.”
Further, he stated, “on May 16, Modi will become the first OBC prime minister of India, for the first time in history a chaiwalla will become a PM because BJP does not believe in dynastic politics and big names.”
Earlier, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar of the MGP, lashed out at Congress’s North Goa candidate and his bête-noire Ravi Naik. “I was shocked to read that he has completed MA in political Science,” he said.
Dhavalikar sought to know. Where Naik had completed his 8th, 10th, 12th and graduation from or where has he purchased the certificates from?
On Ravi’s claims that the Congress will resume mining once the party comes to power at the Centre, “people must know that his promise is not for the love of the mining-affected people but because almost all Congress MLA’s have mining leases in their names of relatives.” “I can prove there are two mining leases in the name of his own son,” he stated.
This candidate, Dhavalikar said, “has changed so many parties since his election on MGP ticket that a person will forget a count and what is the guarantee he will be faithful to the people of Goa?
St Andre MLA addressing the people was also critical of the Congress government at the Centre and urged the people to vote for the BJP and send two MP’s from Goa to strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi.
