The Bicholim Police have apprehended a 20-year-old individual from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly committing sexual assault against a 15-year-old girl (name and other details withheld), which resulted in her pregnancy. The suspect had fled the state but was located and arrested in UP following a coordinated effort.
The police reported that the incident came to light on June 8, 2026, when the minor victim experienced severe abdominal pain and was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bicholim, where she gave birth to a baby boy. She was later transferred to the District Hospital in Mapusa for additional medical treatment. Subsequently, the victim’s father filed an official complaint.
The complainant and the accused, identified as Mr. Mir Shah, aged 20, who works as a carpenter, lived in the same neighborhood in Muslim Wada, Bicholim. The accused is alleged to have sexually assaulted the minor girl at a rented location in September 2025 and threatened her with death if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
A case has been registered under Crime No. 80/2026 at the Bicholim Police Station, invoking Sections 65 (punishment for rape of a girl under 16) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act 2005, and Sections 4, 6, and 8 of the POCSO Act 2012.

The investigation is being led by Lady Police Sub-Inspector (LPSI) Archana Sharma. The police successfully confirmed the victim’s age through her birth certificate and documented her detailed statement in the presence of a victim assistant. The victim also underwent a mandatory medical examination at GMC, Bambolim.
After the incident, the accused went missing, prompting the Bicholim Police to implement technical surveillance, which pinpointed his location in Uttar Pradesh. A team led by PSI Akash Parwar was dispatched to locate him. With the cooperation of the local Shohratgarh Police, the accused was apprehended.
