The three-day Kirtan festival, “Shivrayanchi Vijay Gatha” (The Saga of Shivrai’s Victory), organised by the Sankhali Ravindra Bhavan to commemorate the Shivrajyabhishek (Coronation) anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, concluded with an overwhelming response from devotees and history enthusiasts.
Renowned Kirtankar Chirudatt Afale enthralled audiences throughout the festival by narrating inspiring episodes from the life and military campaigns of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. His captivating storytelling brought the historic events to life, leaving the audience immersed in the tales of the Maratha king’s courage, leadership, and victories.
The festival witnessed a large turnout on all three days, reflecting the public’s deep appreciation for the cultural and historical tribute.
Speaking on the occasion, Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant highlighted Goa’s historical connection to the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, noting that priests from the Walve family of Vhalshi in Bicholim had participated in the historic coronation ceremony.
Announcing a new cultural initiative, Dr. Sawant said that Sankhali Ravindra Bhavan would soon host another Kirtan series dedicated to the life and valor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, continuing efforts to promote awareness of Maratha history and heritage through traditional storytelling.
