India lodged a strong objection to the depiction of an incorrect map of the country during a seminar at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) in Dhaka, reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India.
The objection was raised during a seminar titled “Rebuilding Trust, Renewing Regional Integration: Pathways for Revitalising SAARC”, held at the BIISS auditorium on Monday. The presentation was delivered by Ahmed Tariq Karim, former Bangladesh High Commissioner to India.

During the presentation, an incorrect map of India was displayed, prompting an immediate response from Pooja Kumari Jha, Second Secretary at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
Addressing the gathering, Jha objected to the depiction and stated, “The map of India depicted is incorrect. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.”
Following her intervention, Ahmed Tariq Karim acknowledged the objection and informed the audience that India’s concern had been noted.
India has consistently maintained that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of the country, and has regularly objected to any depiction of maps that it considers inaccurate or inconsistent with its official position.
The incident occurred during discussions on regional cooperation and the future of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), where participants were exploring ways to rebuild trust and strengthen regional integration among South Asian nations.
