High drama unfolded in the Supreme Court on Friday after a man appearing as a petitioner-in-person created a disturbance by verbally abusing Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, throwing papers inside the courtroom, and disrupting court proceedings before being escorted out by security personnel.
The incident occurred around 11 am during proceedings before a partial working-day Bench comprising Justices KV Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe.

The petitioner, identified as Prabal Pratap, introduced himself as “the sovereign” and referred to the judges as “judicial servants.” During the hearing, he demanded that the court direct the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Lucknow, alleging the officer was running a cybercrime syndicate.
Addressing the Bench in an unusual manner, Pratap said, “Mr Judicial Servant, I order you to order the registration of an FIR against the ASP, Lucknow, for running a syndicate in cybercrime.”
Taken aback by the petitioner’s remarks, Justice KV Viswanathan questioned him, saying, “You are ordering me? You are ordering us?”
The courtroom atmosphere quickly turned tense as the petitioner allegedly continued his disruptive behaviour, verbally abused Chief Justice Surya Kant, and threw papers inside the courtroom. Following the disruption, security personnel intervened and escorted him out, allowing court proceedings to resume.
The incident briefly interrupted the functioning of the Supreme Court and drew attention due to the petitioner’s conduct inside the country’s highest judicial institution.
