Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday intensified his criticism of the Centre over the ongoing student protests, accusing the government of suppressing students who are raising genuine concerns and alleging that the country’s education system has been compromised under the present administration.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said students across the country were protesting for legitimate reasons but were being met with force instead of solutions.

He also launched a sharp attack on Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing him as “corrupt” and “incompetent”, while renewing his demand for the minister’s resignation.
“Students are demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. It is a legitimate demand. Pradhan is a corrupt and incompetent man. He must be removed,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Expanding his criticism beyond the protests, the Leader of the Opposition alleged that the education system had been “rigged” under the current government, claiming that students were facing an unfair environment.
Rahul Gandhi maintained that the government should engage with students’ concerns rather than taking action against those participating in demonstrations.
The Congress has consistently criticised the Centre over issues relating to education and student welfare, with Rahul Gandhi’s latest remarks adding to the party’s ongoing attack on the government’s handling of the sector.
