Delhi Police Detain Protesters During Anti-Reservation Demonstration at Jantar Mantar

The Delhi Police on Friday detained several protesters who gathered at Jantar Mantar for an anti-reservation demonstration, as security was tightened around the protest site following a heavy turnout.

A senior police officer said additional personnel were deployed in and around the area. Visuals showed police detaining several protesters, most of them men, as demonstrators gathered with banners, posters and saffron flags and raised slogans opposing caste-based reservation.

The protest was organised through social media, with participants demanding that economic criteria be given greater importance than caste when determining eligibility for government support and reservation benefits.

Ahead of the demonstration, Delhi Police deployed personnel along with paramilitary forces at key locations. Barricades were also installed to regulate the movement of people towards Jantar Mantar and maintain security in the area.
