According to preliminary reports from Bangladeshi media and law enforcement authorities, the incident transpired after the family discovered two men consuming Yaba—a highly potent and addictive illicit drug containing methamphetamine and caffeine—on the rooftop of their residence. When the family confronted the men regarding their illegal activities on private property, an altercation escalated into a fatal assault claiming the lives of all four family members.

Following a coordinated operation involving the Rangpur Metropolitan Police, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Detective Branch (DB), two suspects were apprehended. The detained individuals have been identified as cousins named Mughdho and Siddhartha.

Investigators revealed astonishing and eerie details regarding the suspects’ actions immediately following the killings. Rather than attempting an immediate escape from the scene, the perpetrators reportedly remained inside the Chakraborty home for several hours. During this period, the suspects raided the kitchen, ate dates and cucumbers, and took a bath to clean themselves before eventually departing the premises.
