VERNA: Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna, will represent Goa at the National-Level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from August 31, 2026.
The Verna school clinched the Goa State title after a commanding 6-0 victory over Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem, in the state finals played on Sunday.
Savion Fernandes and Presly Faleiro starred in the final, scoring two goals each, while Rueben Pereira and Vawn Ferrao added a goal apiece to seal the emphatic win.
The final was officiated by referee Domnic Fernandes, with Aaron F., Minino F., and Celvin Fernandes serving as assistant referees.
The tournament was organised under the guidance of State Sports Organiser Anant Sawal.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Ajay R. Gaude as the chief guest, along with Officiating APEO Prakash Satarkar and Sports Authority of Goa Assistant Director Raju Pavar, who presented the trophy, medals, and certificates to both finalist teams.
Following their state championship triumph, Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna, will now head to Bengaluru to represent Goa at the national tournament.
