India has offered to deploy teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to Nepal to assist with search-and-rescue operations following devastating flash floods that have killed at least 552 people on both sides of the Nepal-Tibet border.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday that India was also preparing additional humanitarian assistance at Nepal’s request. The support is expected to include medical aid, engineering teams and equipment to help repair and restore critical infrastructure damaged by the floods.

The offer came hours after Nepal said it did not require foreign search-and-rescue teams, stating that its own security agencies had the capacity to manage the rescue and relief operations.
The disaster has left more than 1,400 people missing, including hundreds of foreign nationals. Several settlements have been swept away, while roads and bridges have been destroyed and major hydropower infrastructure severely damaged.
India’s proposed assistance is aimed at supporting Nepal’s ongoing relief and recovery efforts as authorities continue searching for missing people and assessing the extensive damage caused by the floods.
