Karnataka teenager held for killing beggar

MARGAO: The Margao Town Police have arrested 18-year-old native of Mandya, Karnataka in connection with the murder of an unknown beggar near the Konkan Railway Station on December 10. 
It may be recalled that the beggar sustained head injuries and a stone was found near the body.
Police constables Goraknath Gauns and Avinash Naik helped in arresting the teenager who was residing near the Margao Railway Station. The accused used to steal things under the guise of being a rag picker.
According to police, the teenager  was addicted to sniffing ink whitener and alcohol and murdered the beggar only for money. 
During interrogation, the teenager  confessed to the crime and said the victim woke up when he tried to steal his bag. When the beggar resisted, the accused hit him on his head with a stone resulting in his death.
In the CCTV footage, constable Avinash from Curchorem Police Station found the accused moving around the crime site at around 4.30 am.
Constable Goraknath Gauns went out looking for the teenager  who remained underground but was arrested on Friday at around 9:30 pm from platform No 4 at the Margao Railway Station where he had come to board the 11 pm train to his native place.
The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim.
