B, C class civic bodies assured help

Urban Development Minister, Joaquim Alemao has said that the government would accord priority for revenue generation projects to make B and C class Municipalities to stand on their own legs.
He told newsmen that Class B and C Municipalities are facing problems relating to finances, adding that the government has plans to overcome the problems by working out revenue generating projects for these Civic bodies. “This will be taken up on a priority by the government. The Class B and C Civic bodies need to be strengthened financially so that they stand on their own legs”, he added.
The Minister said that the govt would set up waste treatment plants in the remaining Civic bodies by mid-next year, adding that the treatment plants in Bicholim and Cuncolim are working satisfactorily.
