The Netherlands is a European country. There are 44 countries Europe continent. The people of the Netherlands and also their language is called Dutch. There are six countries in the world wherein the official language is Dutch.
The Netherlands borders Germany to the east and Belgium to the south with North Sea to the north and west. It is in the list of world’s richest countries in place 14. There are in total 196 countries in the world.

There are 3 striking features of the Netherlands. They are: 1. Tulip flowers, 2. Windmills 3. Beautiful canals. This country has four seasons they are: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Though scant, rain falls here throughout the year. In summer, days are longer and the nights are shorter. Opposite is the case in winter.
There is shortage of people performing manual labour in the Netherlands. Thus, there are no waiters in most of the restaurants and there are no attendants on petrol stations here. Self-service is the only alternative. So also, there are no conductors in busses and passengers are required to swipe their cards.
Cycle culture has thrived well in the Netherlands since long. Here most of the people ride bikes. Even the king and the prime minister of this kingdom uses bicycles with pride. There are more bikes than people in the NETHERLANDS! Separate roads are set up for only cycles and they are painted red. Due to level surface of the land, people, young and old prefer cycling.
It is obvious that we Indians find life expensive in the Netherlands. The currency of NETHERLANDS is Euro. One Euro equals to 91 rupees. Netherlands has second most expensive public transport in the world. A simple breakfast in a moderate hotel cost here at least 4 Euros meaning about 360 rupees and a simple meal costs 10 Euros amounting to 900 rupees. Doctor’s fee is 30 Euros amounting to rupees 2,800 and for a simple haircut, a barber charges you 21 Euros which amounts to 2,000 rupees!
Though the cost of living is far more, the earnings are also quite handsome in NETHERLANDS. The minimum statutory wage is 13 Euros per hour. This means 1,200 rupees per hour! The working days of the week are five Saturdays and Sundays are holidays. Retirement age is 67 years and the pension is above 80% of the gross salary.
The whole country is neat, clean and pollution free. Stray dogs and stray cattle are not found anywhere. Separate plots of land are kept across the state for dogs to carry out their bodily functions. Also, numerous grasslands are reserved for cattle to graze. Beggars are seldom seen here.
People of this wonderland wake up early in the morning and also go to bed earlier at night. Their staple food is bread, cheese, meat, fish and potatoes. Herring is the national fish of the Netherlands. People here prefer coffee over tea.
Dutch weddings are simple. Minimum legal age for marriage is 18. It is Customary to serve herrings and a special spicy wine called ‘bride’s tears’ at wedding receptions. Dutch bride wears white gown and a flower crown of her head.
