MARGAO: Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias assured the people of Macasana that he would be shortly organizing a meeting with officials in the village where people could relate their grievances and he also promised to set up his office in the village shortly. The assurances came at the village gram sabha on Sunday where Clafacio was a special invitee
The around 60 people present for the meeting approved a surplus budget for the ensuing financial year where the expenses were projected at 29.40 lakh while the income was pegged at Rs 37.38 lakh. Major part of the income was from government funds or grants with Rs 6.30 lakhs expected from 14th Finance and Rs 6 lakh expected from matching grants.
On the expenditure part major expenses were projected towards administration where Rs 16 lakh were the expected expenditure.
Even though around 60 villagers were present for the gram sabha, the three so called Opposition panchas were absent. Pancha Francis D’Costa speaking for them said the gram sabha has been called without adhering to the laid down procedure only to circumvent the show cause notice for not holding gram sabhas regularly.
He said the regular meeting of the panchayat body was not held to discuss the issues raised by the villagers as is the normal practice and termed the gram sabha held today as “extraordinary gram sabha”.
