Talking about the meetings, Tiracol parish priest Fr. Teo Fernandes and locals belonging to the St. Anthony Tenants Association met with officials from the hotel but the villagers were unwilling to speak until the bouncers brought in were removed from the site.
“What the villagers want is for the bouncers, who were brought in on Thursday evening, to be removed from the village. They bring a sense of fear among the locals and we have asked the officials to have them removed,” said Fr. Fernandes.
The hotel on its part has said that they would develop land but not in disputed areas.
In the wee hours of Friday morning, hotel officials employed heavy machinery for the purpose of clearing land for the hotel project and golf course. 50 bouncers were engaged for the purpose Following complaints from locals and with the intervention of the police, work was brought to a standstill though the machinery and some bouncers still remain at the site.
