The dire situation has prompted the employees to resort to covering computers and files with plastic sheets to protect them from damage. Alarmingly, there have been reports of electric shocks from devices exposed to water, thereby putting the lives of the staff at risk.
Sources informed about ceiling fans getting burnt due to short circuits due to the leakage.
Despite repeated complaints to the authorities concerned, no repair or maintenance work has been undertaken. The inaction has forced the employees to continue working under dangerous conditions.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a staff member said, “This is not just about discomfort – it’s a major safety hazard. We are putting our lives at risk each day.”
The lack of action has not only affected the morale of the government employees, but has also reflected the poor maintenance of the public infrastructure.
The staff members have demanded immediate intervention to rectify this situation before a serious accident takes place.
