HYDERABAD: Left-handed Sagun Kamat missed a century by three runs as Goa posted 238 for the loss of six wickets in their first innings in reply to Hyderabad’s mammoth 568 for seven declared on the third and penultimate day of a Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match, here, today.
Kamat hit a patient 97-run knock off 215 balls during which he struck 12 boundaries and a six to hold on to Goa’s innings.
Kamat, however, was unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved ton as he fell three runs short of the three-figure mark when he was caught by Hyderabad skipper DB Ravi Teja off Pragyan Ojha’s bowling.
Besides Kamat, wicketkeeper Keenan Vaz (45), Darshan Misal (36) were the other notable contributors for Goa.
Pacer M Ravi Kiran (2/24) and Ojha (2/98) scalped two wickets apiece for Hyderabad.
At stumps on Day 3, Saurabh Bandekar was batting on 24 while giving him company at the other end was Shadab Jakati on eight.
With a day’s play left, Goa still trail Hyderabad by 330 runs with four wickets in hand.
