PANJIM: Displaced kiosk owners, who are hoping to be rehabilitated soon, demanded that the vendors who are presently selling their goods illegally outside the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim should be stopped.
According to Domnic Pereira, permitting the vendors to sell their goods illegally will hamper the business of those who have been rehabilitated. The kiosk owners also demanded that the allotment of the kiosks be done in a phased manner so that every vendor has equal chances of getting business.
Informing that it has been a year since the kiosks were demolished, Pereira said, “In a recent meeting with the Deputy Collector we discussed about the rehabilitation and requested them to expedite the process. The Deputy Collector has assured us that he will try to allot the kiosks to the vendors before the Model Code of Conduct comes into force.
