PANJIM: Goa has ‘officially’ become the nerve centre of the nation’s battle on drugs, even as the DGP Goa says Goa is only a destination but not a supplier.
According to police sources, Assistant DGP of Maharashtra, DGP of Karnataka, DIG of Telangana, DIG of Odisha, Narcotics Control Record Bureau officials, and top police officials from Andhra Pradesh will be in Goa from September 21 to 23 to hold talks and plan strategy to stop the illegal drug trade.
A detailed plan is likely to be chalked out during the inter-State police coordination meeting to curb the drug menace plaguing many States across the country.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had gone on record in the recent Assembly session claiming that the State had become a transit point for banned illicit drugs and psychotropic substances.
