PANJIM: Teams from the Ministry of Environment and Forests are in the state, with more bureaucrats expected Thursday (today).
According to sources the teams are/will arrive in the State to file reports on buffer zones, tiger habitat as well as to check on the environmental clearances.
However, there was no official confirmation about the reason for their visit though officials confirmed that they were indeed in the State.
The Supreme Court -appointed CEC had put the number of the iron ore mines within the 10 km radius of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries at 70. On December 7, it had also recommended revocation of environmental clearances granted to 42 iron ore mining leases located near national parks and sanctuaries.
