MARGAO: Demanding the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the rape of 7-year old Vasco student, the Fatorda Development Committee (FDC) has called for a Fatorda bandh on January 27 if the police fail to arrest the culprit by January 26.
President of Fatorda Development Committee President Camilo Barretto said the entire Fatorda locality will observe the bandh to demand justice for the minor school girl.
Claiming that the victim hails from Fatorda, Barretto said the Committee has served a memorandum to the South Goa Collector and the DySP, Margao demanding justice for the victim girl.
He alleged that the police are trying to hush up the matter by offering compensation to the family and by arresting the headmistress. “It is now almost seven days since the commission of the heinous crime, but the accused is still at large. The police have failed to nab the culprit and give justice for the victim”, he said.
The Committee has demanded strong action against the school management for destroying forensic evidence after the incident.
