PANJIM: Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Wednesday charged that it was the then Congress government, which first gave its letter to Karnataka to divert Mhadei water and demanded that the State Congress leaders should now request Karnataka government to withdraw its revised Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Hitting out at the State Congress leaders for supporting the Save Mhadei Save Goa movement, Dhavalikar said they should find out which was the first State government that gave letter to Karnataka to divert Mhadei water. He admitted that subsequently another letter was given to Karnataka after few years but refused to disclose which was the then government that gave the letter.
Dhavalikar said that the State Congress leaders should request Congress government in Karnataka to withdraw the revised DPR and also the Rs 1000 crore budgetary provisions made Karnataka for Kalasa-Bhandura dam projects.
Dhavalikar suggested that the Karnataka should increase the capacity of its Supa Dam and provide water to Hubbali-Dharward areas.
