BANDORA: Bardez Veterans pipped Excel Rovers Veterans, Loutolim 1-0 to move into the semi-finals of the all-Goa 9-a-side Veterans Soccer organised by Ponda Football Veterans in association with Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s physiotherapy Aqua Rehabilitation Centre, Ponda and played at Dayanand Bandodkar ground, Bandora, on Wednesday.
Excel Rovers dominated the proceedings. Francis Colaco shot the ball straight into the hands of Bardez keeper Dominic. Soon after, Francis Colaco Jr. shot wide from close distance.
Bardez tried long rangers with Shailesh Misquin hitting the target but failing to beat the Loutolim keeper.
After resumption, Bruno shot from 25 yards giving no chance for the rival keeper as Bardez took the lead. Bardez could have increased the margin when a shot from Allwyn was fisted away by Benny for a corner. Thereafter, Bardez kept possession of the ball to keep the Loutolim forwards at bay.
