PONDA: Despite government deciding not to allow road digging for development work after May 15 due to monsoons, road digging has been taken up near Bank of India in Ponda, on Wednesday.
Shopkeepers who are facing server inconvenience complained that the road digging work is causing them loss.
Strangely, the BSNL chambers have also been opened at same spot for repairs.
Ponda local Umakanth Naik said that the road digging is causing traffic congestion, but the traffic police ignore it. On the other hand, traffic police are busy issuing challans in city despite the PMC passing a resolution against fining helmetless riders.
Last week, Ponda shopkeepers protested against road digging as mud slurry from sewerage chamber was overflowing into their premises causing them inconvenience.
