Ambelim took the lead through Jana D’Costa, who finished clinically by calmly slotting past the rival keeper. Spurred by the early goal, the Goan side displayed their supremacy in the midfield and did not allow their opponents to take control of the proceedings.
Just before the lemon break, Ambelim scored the second goal through the boots of Marcelino Pinto.
Changing over, Belgaum started with a renewed sense of purpose and marched into the rival territory with soime fangerous moves.
Midway into the second session, their hardwork bore fruit as they pulled one goal back. Belgaum tried hard to carry on the momentum and equalize but Ambelim stood their ground until the final whistle.
The match was organised through the initiative of ex-FIFA referee Benjamin Silva.
Ambelim Veterans were represented by Raj Kapoor, Ivon Fernandes, Seby Crasto, Vincent Colaco, Marcelino Pinto, Michael Fernandes, Kenneth, John Fernandes, Judas, Herodian Fernandes, Jana D’Costa and Vincent Colaco.
Organisers were very delighted to have a team from Goa playing an exhibition match which brought in huge crowd.
Ambelim brought home the winners trophy.
