PONDA: Locals in Ponda have demanded that the median gap at Curti on National Highway be immediately closed as it has turned into a death trap.
A U-turn followed by a sudden crossing of the vehicles in the opposite direction affects the National Highway traffic passing on the four-lane in the opposite direction.

Sandeep Parkar, a local said, “Today there was an accident between two vehicles as they were taking the U-turn. Luckily the occupant of the car escaped unhurt.”
He further said that he had discussed the issue with the Deputy Collector and that he would hand over a memorandum on behalf of locals to close the median gap.
He added that trucks are parked along this stretch of the National Highway making it more prone to accidents
Parker claims that he had highlighted this issue at the issue at the gram sabha but no positive outcome has come till date.
