CB sleuths had seized nearly 18 files related to the JICA project from its office at Altinho on Wednesday and recorded JICA project director A Wachasundar’s statement the previous day.
“We are exploring the documents at the JICA office and scrutinizing the papers we have seized. Further action will depend on the facts based on the documents. Before issuing summons to any person, we need to collect evidence,” DIG V Renganathan said.
Sources said that CB has sent a report of the preliminary enquiry to the government and a detailed report will be sent after investigations are completed.
CB had registered an offence under Sections 403 (misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC, and Sections 7, 8, 9 and 13 of the PCA taking cognizance of a complaint by Home Department on Tuesday evening.
