Geetanjali Naik told the media that she has received little or no cooperation from the Colva police, leaving her and her family totally in the dark about the investigations in the daring burglary. “The Colva police keep telling us that they have identified the miscreant involved in the case, but the burglary stands unresolved till date. I have made umpteen number of trips to the Colva police station to seek details on the progress of the investigation, but the police do not seem to be cooperating in the case”, she said.
With the Colva police adopting a non-cooperative attitude, Geetanjali had to knock the doors of the district police chief Shekhar Prabhudessai. “SP Prabhudessai gave me a hearing and promised to look into the case, but in vain”, she added.
Geetanjali has now demanded to know why the Colva police are not laying their hands on the culprits if they have identified the persons involved in the crime. ‘It is indeed shocking and surprising that the police have not arrested the culprits when they keep saying they have identified the accused”, she said.
Geetanjali’s bungalow at Colva, located close to the Colva police station, was burgled on November 28 night by unknown persons around the same time when a dacoity took place at Davorlim. After effecting entry inside the bungalow through the rear side, the miscreants had straight away walked inside her room upstairs and decamped with gold ornaments and currency, all valued around Rs six lakhs.
