PANJIM: Admitting that a mahagatbandhan is the need of the hour, Congress’ Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, took a dig at his party legislator Vishwajit Rane saying first he should consult his father on the issue.
“Vishwajit Rane must first consult his father Pratapsingh Rane, who is the Leader of the Opposition and senior party leader whether he is willing to have an alliance with other small regional outfits,” Madakaikar said.
Madkaikar was reacting to Vishwajit’s comment that if there is no grand alliance then he is ready to quit the party. “If both father and son are ready for a grand alliance only then he should talk about this,” Madkaikar said.
On Monday GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro had reacted to Jr Rane’s call for an alliance saying the MLAs must first show their grand alliance in the Assembly to counter the government.
Madkaikar, however, asserted that an alliance is the need of the hour. “The people of Goa have the same feeling and we need to respect that our party leaders should keep their personal views aside and think about forming the next government and keep communal forces out,” he said.
Targeting BJP over the distribution over free LED bulbs, he said, “Before distributing free LED bulbs they should ensure continuous electricity supply. People are fed up of the frequent power failures. Secondly, the government must also look into reducing electricity tariff before distributing LED bulbs. This is nothing but fooling the people,” he said.
