PONDA: Opposing the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) decision to close the Kavlem-Khadpaband road claiming it to be illegal, Marcaim MLA on Wednesday said the road is legal as PWD acquired land for the same long ago.
Former PWD Minister and Marcaim MLA Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar opposed the closure of the road stating that it is a legal road and land acquisition was carried out long ago.

He said the Chief Minister assured him in the Assembly that he would order a probe into the matter and questioned as to how PMC can decide to close the road without conducting an inquiry.
He demanded a vigilance probe in the matter and also against those officials, who allowed the construction of compound along the stretch at some places in PMC jurisdiction.
He said this road, which finds no mention in the PMC ODP, does not mean that it does not exist. Government should order a vigilance inquiry into the matter.
